Interactive Performance I

Techniques of interactive acting, with emphasis on interpersonal awareness and audience fascination.

The Politics and Poetics of Transnational Cinema
ENG 3930H, Grajeda
Exploration of the latest stage of “globalization” and the global cultural economy of world cinema.

Film Comedy: Against the American Grain
FIL 3930H, Boyar
Analysis of selected comedic films considered in their cultural, historical, and aesthetic contexts, and their subversive intent.

Indian Culture: Music, Dance, and Yoga
IDH 3930H, Taylor/Muley
This class covers fundamentals of Indian music and dance from both a theoretical and practical perspective. Students will learn the basics of Indian percussion through playing Tabla. Basic Indian dance (Kathak) technique will also be covered. Traditional classical Indian music instruments such as Santur and Tambura will be demonstrated. Students will listen to live and recorded examples of classical Indian music.

King Arthur on Page, Stage, and Screen: From Camelot to Spamalot

Interdisciplinary analysis of the King Arthur tradition in literature, film, and theatre, focusing on mythological, historic, and cultural aspects.

The Science of Music
MUS 3930H / PHY3930H, Koons and Bindell
Investigation into the scientific background of sound and music. (PR: MAC1105 or equivalent, some physics knowledge suggested)

Sustainability
PUP 4932H, Jacques
Environmental politics through the lens of “sustainability”. Attention devoted to the relationships of culture, economics, and ecology.

Violence and Destruction in Society
SYP 3930H, Mustaine
Examination of the patterns, sources, consequences, and prevention of the violence and destruction we experience in our communities and the world.
