| Allyn M. Stearman Scholarship
The purpose of the Allyn M. Stearman Scholarship is to recognize those outstanding Honors students who demonstrate the academic and leadership qualities embodied by the founding Dean of The Burnett Honors College, Dr. Allyn Stearman. Allyn McLean Stearman received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida and took her first faculty position at the University of Central Florida specializing in cultural anthropology. Dr. Stearman?s research focuses on cultures of Latin America, with particular interest in cultural ecology, native Amazonians, problems of developing nations, and women in agriculture. She currently conducts her fieldwork in Bolivia. Among her publications are two books titled No Longer Nomads: The Siriono Revisited, and Yuqui: Forest Nomads in a Changing World.. |
| Atlantic Center for the Arts Honors Summer Institute
The Burnett Honors College (TBHC), in conjunction with the Atlantic Center for the Arts (ACA), sponsors an Honors summer internship at the Atlantic Center for the Arts. This is a fully supported internship that is matched by funds provided by TBHC and ACA to cover the expenses for one Honors student accepted for a one month summer residential internship. This internship opportunity is open for Honors students interested in the arts (broadly defined). | Burnett Honors College Study Abroad Scholarship
The Burnett Honors College awards scholarships to students of the College or students completing the Honors in the Major program. The applicant must be in good standing in the Honors program and have finished at least one year of Honors studies. Selection is competitive, and is based on academic achievement, letters of recommendation, and a 500-word essay. More information and application are avilable here. |
| Honors Enhancement Scholarship
All prospective students who apply for The Burnett Honors College by the designated date are automatically considered for the Honors Enhancement Scholarship. Scholarships are awarded competitively, based on the academic credentials (test scores, high school GPA and class rank) of the applicants who meet the preferred scholarship deadline. | President's Scholars Program
Initiated by UCF President John C. Hitt, this scholarship program provides an Honors summer study abroad experience to the highest achieving Honors students at UCF. Student travel, room and board, and excursion costs totaling more than $6,000 will be paid by the President's Scholars Program. Selection for this competitive program is based on academic achievement, letters of recommendation, an interview, and a 500-word essay. | Honors In The Major Scholarship
The Burnett Honors College partners with the seven other colleges and two regional campuses ( Cocoa and Daytona) in sponsoring Honors in the Major (HIM) Scholarships. These $1,000 scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis within each college/campus and are available to all students who are enrolled in HIM credit hours (either Directed Readings or Thesis hours). All HIM students are strongly encouraged to apply for these scholarships. For more information about these scholarships, students should contact the Honors Representative of their college about the application process and deadlines. | Student-Mentor Academic Research Teams Grant
The purpose of the Student-Mentor Academic Research Teams (SMART) Grant is to foster undergraduate research at UCF among sophomores and juniors. This grant provides funding for students and their research mentors. All SMART grant recipients must submit a written research report or some other product of research activity and an introspective statement regarding the value of their research experience to The Burnett Honors College at the conclusion of the semester during which they have enrolled in a Directed Individual Research course. Students currently receiving other UCF undergraduate research grants are not eligible to apply. | Provost's Scholarships Essay Contest
The Provost's Scholarship Essay Contest awards up to ten $1,000 scholarships based on a 1,000 to1,500 word essay contest judged by a faculty committee from the English Department. The topic of the essay changes every year. The top three winners present their papers to the Honors Symposium. This scholarship is available to University Honors students who have completed at least 30 credit hours at UCF prior to applying, and who will be enrolled at UCF when the award is paid in the spring semester. | Katherine Keller Scholarship
The Katherine Keller Scholarship recognizes those outstanding Honors students who demonstrate the academic and leadership qualities embodied by past Director of the Honors Program, Dr. Katherine Keller. One $1,000 award will be made to the student who best exemplifies academic excellence, including the ability to communicate ideas clearly; a commitment to helping others achieve their academic potential; and leadership skills. This scholarship is available to University Honors students who have completed at least two semesters at UCF. Selection is based on a 300-word personal statement, résumé, current UCF transcript, sample of the student’s best written or creative work, and letters of recommendation. | Junior Achievement Heroes Among Us Scholarship
The innovative and award winning Junior Achievement-Burnett Honors College partnership, which began during the 2004-2005 school year, has grown into the largest Honors College -Junior Achievement collaboration in the country. As a result of the hard work and dedication to the program last year, TBHC and JA have created a total of five $500 scholarship opportunities for students of The Burnett Honors College to be awarded in the fall and spring semesters. These scholarships are open to Honors students who participated in Junior Achievement during the 2004-05 and 2005-06 academic years. | The Information Fluency Student Award
The Burnett Honors College and the University of Central Florida Libraries are pleased to announce the Information Fluency Student Award. UCF defines Information Fluency as ?the ability to gather, evaluate, and use information in ethical and legal ways.? Recognizing the importance of information fluency as an essential skills set that prepares students for high level academic work, the workplace, and everyday life, The Burnett Honors College and UCF Libraries wish to acknowledge and reward excellence for students? abilities to gather, evaluate and use resources through effective, efficient, and thorough search strategies using quality sources. Winners of the IF Award will demonstrate knowledge of academic sources, superior search strategies, and the ability to retrieve scholarly sources appropriate for academic endeavors.
